Get Connected: Scandal…Where is Olivia?!

Nope, this post isn’t about the AMAZING season finale of Scandal that came on last night, and I’m sure left everyone in a serious state of “WTF”! I mean…Jake..Olivia as the First Lady…and that creepy old guy is her father?! #ICAN’T lol

This post is about the IRS scandal that seems to be an added plague to the Obama administration. Now, in my 22 years of walking this earth, I have not met a single person who likes the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) unless they gave them a job or something…lol. In case you don’t know the scandal for this real life political saga…the IRS has been accused of targeting of conservative groups and making it harder for them to obtain forms of tax exemptions. Yesterday, Eric Holder the Attorney General faced a good amount of the push back from the Judiciary Committee. But today the IRS hearings will continue which means hella press and alot of offensive questions….

Where is Olivia Pope when you need her?! lol

xoxo, GB

Get Connected: A Day For My Mom

This past Sunday was Mother’s Day and my sister and I treated my amazing mom to brunch at this cute little restaurant called Level One. The food was AMAZING and they had bottomless mimosas and the vibe and crowd was very much so drag queen.

So here are a few photos I snapped that day..

My wonderful mother Lisa B.

She is wearing a MCM tote, black cropped mesh jacket, black peplum top, black harem pants and black peep toe booties.

And lastly a candid shot of me and Lisa B.

“Here are some broad descriptions about the generation known as Millennials: They’re narcissistic. They’re lazy. They’re coddled. They’re even a bit delusional.
Those aren’t just unfounded negative stereotypes about 80 million Americans born roughly between 1980 and 2000. They’re backed up by a decade of sociological research. The National Institutes of Health found that for people in their 20s, Narcissistic Personality Disorder is three times as high than the generation that’s 65 or older. In 1992, 80 percent of people under 23 wanted to one day have a job with greater responsibility; ten years later, 60 percent did. Millennials received so many participation trophies growing up that 40 percent of them think they should be promoted every two years – regardless of performance. They’re so hopeful about the future you might think they hadn’t heard of something called the Great Recession.”
The Me Generation

Well, they’re right about the “save us all” part, anyway.

Seconded. But Alyssa Rosenberg asks an interesting question: Why did Time put a woman on the cover?

“One avenue the choice of cover suggested is that there might be a gendered component to the irritation with Millenials. Dependence, interiority, and the careful construction of fantasy lives aren’t solely the provenance of girls and women of course, but they’re traits that are coded as feminine.”

Get Connected: Rihanna Diamond Tour

Hey guys…long time no see!

Monday Rihanna came to DC for her Diamonds Tour, and of course I went! Although I was a little nervous about her singing live, I must admit she did a really good job! The show was very energetic and the visuals were very trendy…very Givenchy..AND I LOVED IT.

image

Fashion wise, the Queens were out honey and some of the girls were a hit which made me happy while others were definitely a miss. *side eye*

Here are a few pics I snapped before the show.

I’m wearing a black long sleeved one piece from American Apparel, jean jacket w. leather sleeves from Urban Outfitters, black & white stripped harem pants, and black simple strap sandals.

I found this simple silver and gold diamond shaped necklace at Forever21 and paired it with a bunch of gold and green bracelets for color.

Get Connected: J Crew spring ‘13

I randomly found this post during my daily scroll of tumblr. I love this post simply because it gives great examples of fashionable, on trend, and professionally appropriate work outfits. I’m only 22 and dealing with the transitional period of leaving college and entering  the workforce.

For young working women like myself the post below will hopefully inspire your work attire!

Happy Shopping! :)

j crew spring ‘13

Can I please have every single outfit from J Crew’s Spring ‘13 lookbook? Jenna Lyons is a genius. Boyfriend jeans, spots and stripes, lace and sequins, slouchy sweaters, adorable dresses. It would be 100% ok if this were my complete wardrobe! Happy Friday!

NEED.

From very top, I was amazed and said it must be J Crew. I was right, and I’m still amazed.
